Quick summary of 1sts action at the weekend:

Saturday
TSJ 133 a/o (Nelly 46, Paul 28), Rochdalians 124 a/o (Paul 4-40, Scunners 3-very few)

A superb bowling and fielding performance which at one time had the league's most consistent batting side tottering at 13-6! Why are we so good at defending small targets? Good early batting saw us to 105-3 but then the wheels came off and it needed some good late hitting from Craig and Nick to get us to 133. Then we demolished the top order and kept in there all the way, despite Dalians mounting a spirited fightback. Very tense at the end and a superb effort from all the bowlers - Matt chipped in with 2 great wickets, Bird kept up the pressure and we did the early damage!

Sunday (Cup Q/F)
ELPM 200-7 TSJ 165-9

So the cup dream is over for another year, and ELPM ran out deserved winners. But for a couple of sharp missed chances it could have been a different story but the depth of the Millers batting saw them post a commanding total. At 84-3 with 21 left, we were looking neck and neck but then myself and Nelly were out in successive balls and the wheels fell off. Some terrific hitting form Matt and Mozzer brought us 40 runs at the death, but it was all too late ... a lovely day, but the match was played in somewhat farcical circumstances with the Millers ground absolutely COVERED in goose droppings. Not pleasant at all!
